| Basic Detection is the first job skill. It is NOT required as a prereq to Item Detector--just to make sure you know and all. .__.
The pros and cons of it...hm...
Well, the pros of it is that it makes drilling up items easier. When you use it, a bunch of red targets will show up and you just drill on the bullseye. It has a fast cool down so you can spam it while you try to find a good dig spot on the map.
The cons...well...
You will get a lot of light bulbs and squiggly lines when you get 90 DA and, with some knowledge of line drilling, you could dig without it. Also, one of the major cons is that the skill can only detect at a limited depth. I think about 85 or 95.
Item Detector is for the second job fox, it requires Invincible Drilling, I believe. The depth it can perceive is based on your DA, supposingly. Either way, you'll be able to detect items on any map, I do believe. The problem with this skill is that it takes a long time to cool down. I find myself getting extremely impatient with it when I check an area that it failed to discern or had no items. I have to wait for the bloody thing to cool down so I can check another spot.
But again, it's helpful in detecting items on maps and there are some maps that are a total pain when trying to find patches of ground where items are. ~__~
