#43 | | Guest | some people are getting distracted by this whole thing of 'people paying for power'...no
this is 'rewarding those who donate', there's no unfair to this in anyways, people who donate are of their own will, doesn't make them any more
powerful for that matter, but because of the effort, rewarding them is an ideal thing to do

| Your opinion was noted; however, I feel that we should do something to show our donors that we appreciate their contribution. | | (Offline)

| The idea will only work if the prize is minimal. I'm not saying that those who donate arent' worth something better, or don't deserve something better, but giving out in-game items for someone who donates just wouldn't work. OR moderater powers.
Again, it turns a nice community into a place where the only way to get ahead is to spend real money. We have Trickster for all that, we don't need the website turning into that too.
I go to another website who reward their donators with a custom title underneath their name. Now, I think that's already something we can do without having to pay but like someone said. A star, or a change of color to their name. All of those "rewards" are harmless and don't put anybody a step ahead of the other just because they spent money. | | (Offline)

| Unless Baikin says otherwise...
The "donor appreciation group" will contain members who have donated. This group will have a different color username and the members will be able to change their title regardless of post count. It's a small token of appreciation and I believe that this doesn't give them any special "powers" but still gives them the recognition they deserve. Unfortunately, I would have to create a new group for each user to customize the color for each person. Sorry, but all donors will have the same color. I'll now open this for suggestions on that color as I'm pretty much out of ideas.
Color rules:
1. Must be visible on the skins we have installed for MyTrickster.
2. Must not be easily confused with an existing group (staff positions, guild leaders, VIP group, etc. You can see these colors by clicking "View Forum Leaders" at the bottom of the main forum page.
Please give the hex code you wish to use. "Purple" is not accurate enough as there are countless shades of purple.
Example: |
I'd like to see the donor group's name in Purple (800080)
| 4 days from this post (10:00 AM Trickster time (PDT) Sunday, 16 September 2007) I'll poll the choices submitted and that will be the color we use. Entries that are too close to an existing group color or are not visible will not be considered. ( Execption: The "Interviewers" group will be going away since this really isn't even used anymore. The gold color used (CC9900) is a legal submission)
On that note, I nominate that color for use (slightly darker), Gold Usernames (CC8000)

| A couple of questions:
1. Will this usergroup have lower display priority than 'functional' usergroups, akin to how mod-ship supersedes guild leadership.
2. Will people be able to choose whether or not to be a part of the usegroup if they are eligible?

| 1. Yes
2. Yes
If you're a member of multiple groups you can already change this; like I could make myself display in light blue via the user CP (any user can do this if they're in multiple groups with different displays, not just staff) | | (Offline)

| How about instead of each donator being able to customize their own colored username, they have the option to be tossed into one of 4 different donator group (four username color options) all with the same power of custom titles regardless of post. FF33CC Pink *******'s Gold 00FF00 Green 6633CC Lavender
Just a suggestion :X I can't really pick a gender nuetral color because you all know I'll pick pink >___> Appearently most girls can agree with 'male colors'. | | (Offline)

#55 | | Guest | considering making the names 'glow' as in animating slowly, that would really stand out, only if that's possible or not too much of a hassle otherwise i'm leaning towards the 'gold' color
on the gold note, i think the interviewers golden name should be canceled (nothing against the interviewers ^_^), since i don't even count that as a category anymore, it's totally inactive

| Wow. I've never read this thread before.
I agree any 'reward' for donators should be something minimal. Nothing like mod power, for gods' sake. 90% of us wouldn't know what to do with it. Buying into a title is never a good idea.
So I do like the idea of being able to change your little subtitle despite post count.
And my vote for color is: 310C5A. A nice twilight color.
A question. In the past I have donated to Hidden Street, the info dump for Maple Story. Because they posted exactly how much it cost and frankly I was bowled over. That a small group of people was putting their own money, time and effort into the massive coding nightmare provided for free to all. So, I was wondering if it were kosher at all to ask how much, even a ballpark figure, it costs to run and operate mytrix on a monthy basis? I think people might be surprised. | | (Offline)
