Cats start out with power being strong in the beginning, then evasion later on, and then it goes to a matter of preference as they both become equally strong, but evasion is easier to play with.

Make-Up is pretty darned strong, but too much of a pain in the rear for most people to bother doing (and HK can be gotten much earlier, and thus let's evasion folks outdamage you for a while) and a lot of people aren't fond of the fact it decreases all your stats (except for power, which gets a pretty huge boost) while you are in MU mode.

hmmm...that's why I was thinking if it's 4114/all evasion anyway you'll have enough to spare for the MU skill but I don't want to be doing totally sucky damage with it either D: not forgeting equpis and pets adding stats too.

How am I wrong? The damage formula has been posted. An evasion cat does 12% more damage with HK than a power cat. How is that a "whoooole lot better?" I'm serious. Do evasion cats get any other special skills not mentioned here? I know I just heard that the makeup skill adds to power, how does that factor into the damage comparison?

Evasion/defense becomes even less useful as you level. The AI in this game is dreadfully stupid, you can walk up and smash something in the face for half it's HP, then take 5 quick steps away from it and it pretends nothing happened. This is a frighteningly effective hunting method, and I used it for hours today with some foxes. PC defense and HP, and enemy damage, mean nothing if used correctly.

The power boost from MU is Attack Power x 3.5 , at Master Level

Wow. So that's over 2800 in just raw atk power by level 100, not counting any weapons or equipment. If power blow can be used with that, the damage is just going to be massive.

While in Mu mode you can only use 2 skills (I can't remember the names) made for it, so every other skill becomes unavailable until MU is over.

Aha, figured there was some skill limitation. That's still some pretty serious damage, even using just auto attack.

One is Wild Rush, which bases it's strength on your AP x 3 at mastered level (300 MP to use with an 8 second delay)

The other skill, Wild Knuckle, makes no sense to me. I never grinded enough to get it (only bothered with wild rush), it doesn't go as strong as wild rush, but it has the chance to keep inflicting continuous damage for a few seconds.

What skills are we suppose to be getting as an Evasion Cat because I got like 20 TM Points rotting away over here.

In the end, evasion cats will be forced to get FS (if 2nd job isn't out) anyways.

A very noobish question, but what is FS, PW, and Shape Up skill called in the English version?

It seems this debate doesnt even address fully the advantages of a powercat. Which is the Make Up skills, and the rediculous damage. to compare the high kick damage is unfair to power cats, and as someone who has yet to start a cat because i want to know whether to get a makeup cat or not, i think its silly.

I rather play a bunny or buffalo 4114/4123 all to AP.

Then you'd do a little more damage, but you'd take a little more (or a lot more if you go 3 charm) too. It depends on what you want. I am fully content with my AP cat right now at level 50. I do a ton of damage, not as much as a magic type, but very close to that of an equal level power. And I take almost no damage with Dodge Master and Sturdy Shield up. Most normal hits are for 0, it's only crits and skills that hurt.

With maxed Power Blow and maxed Titanium Wrist our skill damage is about the same (maybe higher). Our normal attacks do the same damage obviously since we have the same stats and equipment. They are only ahead in damage because of Hyper Beat.

Well I can't compare second job skills. We have months before we get them (I've heard October). The only other buff power types get is a party buff, so if you stay close to them you'll get it too.

That said, I can't see anything being much better than MU as an AP buff. >.> It's like a Power Blow for every single hit.
