erm. One of you hosts by using option 1. The other person who isn
t hosting uses option 2 and enters the person hosting's Hamachi IP.

That's supposed to happen. When you host, you see "Now waiting for access" until the person connects to you.

hhhhmmmmm...and then after we're connected, we both press 9?

You don't need to use 9 at all, not unless you want to see whether or not you can host directly. After the person connects to you, one of you will have to enter the input delay. (Just press enter if you're asked to put the input delay in) After that, the game will automatically load and you'll be able to play with each other.

I tried downloading the trial and patching it, I've also put the patched reg.exe into the same folder, arcade mode won't work.
