Archer is equip a bow and arrow
The archer skill is magnum shot which you use skills with duncan with bow equipped then talk to school guy
Mage is just take class with magic lady or read the books she sells
healing magic is book only

Well, really there arn't any Archer or Magician classes.
People just call themselves that to tell others that they mainly use bow/magic.

In Mabinogi, you can be ANYTHING.

Magical Warrior, Warrior Archer, Pure Warrior, anything.
It all depends on what skills you pick and level up.

And to answer your age thing, the older you are, the higher your stats are. Levels don't mean much in Mabinogi really.

However the upside for being younger is that when you age, you get more AP.
People that are age 10, get +5 AP when they age to 11. But people that age from like 18 to 19 get far less AP (like 1 or 2 I think).
AP = Skills and Skills > Levels. A level 10 player can beat things a level 30 couldn't if they know how to play.

The skills I want to raise never seem to reach their total exp. Archery is stuck at 60 below, with two unknown options (which the wiki sort of helped with except that I've done what it says -falling down and losing a fight- and still haven't gained the exp). Even worse is the playing instrument skill, it says I need 400 more points - 40 perfect plays, which I haven't gotten one of yet.

I've got 19 ability points, from quests and levels, that I'm not sure where to use. Do I lose out by raising the skills which are below the total exp?

And I still haven't found a fishing rod.

I think its 40 points for "very good" performace.
Each "very good" will give you 10 points I think.. hopefully...>.>

You don't have to fully raise a skill you know.
All you get is EXP if you perfect train a skill.

At higher Ranks, its ridiculous (like for me, I need to knock down a monster similar to my level 2000 FREAKING TIMES just to fufill that condition. Don't get me started on the others >__>;; )
Just level it when its possible, unless you REALLY want that exp.


Oh and everyone wants Bangor's seal broken for a number of reasons.

One: There's a quest there that gives a yummy 10k exp.
Two: That's the only town that you can buy a two-handed sword at.
Three: Only town where you can learn and use refining I think.
Four: There's another dungeon in that town.

And the list just goes on and on.

I personally want Emain Macha open. I love that city D:.
