Changing your screen's resolution.

WOW thanks so much this is awesome...some things are still a little screwy (like chat box being too high up and such) but I think I may have missed some things...anyway this is awesome![/nooblet]

edit: hmm problems. Can't fix my problems...things still in odd places. Should I change the "800" as in the height in the files as well?

I was wondering if you do a file check will it replace all the files that you have tamperd with to make the resolution bigger?

I would like to know this before screwing around with the files

You can click on the sides of the chat box (the light blue/purplish colored parts of your chat box) to drag it to wherever you'd want to.

No. The only problem you'll encounter is that your Trickster will not update the new backgrounds for the login screen. That's pretty much it.

I have noticed one problem and thats using myshop with this... well its not really a problem its more like everythings in thw wrong place. other than thats its great

it basecly doesnt enlarge anything it just makes it to where you can look at stuff thats further away than you usually could like it extends the window size to make you see further

Oh right, now I remember, when you're in myshop, if you click outside of the myshop screen, where you still see the map you're on, you'll get an error.

well when i did that i didnt get an error my cursor just left a trail on the mpa part but the character info and picture was just in the wrong spot but everything else was fine for me

unless you mean actually purchesing a myshop item (i havent tried that yet)

also i have noticed when doing full screen with this it has a hell of a lot less lag when using the windows logo key to minimize the client

i didnt left click on the map but i left clicked on the myshop part ill try what you said though

Hmm... I'll have to give this a shot when I get home from work. I've got a laptop, so it'd be nice to actually play the game on a wide-screen mode instead of the usual 1024x768. Of course... I usually have IM clients open... so I may mess around with both default resolutions to make one for windowed mode and one for full-screen mode.

EDIT: This works quite well. All issues have already been mentioned here really... I can tolerate a few alignment issues. XD

I've also noticed you cant take a screen shot and it go in the capture folder with this (yet another downside)

Probably. XD Mine work just fine too... also... I've customized things a bit for me... I didn't alter the 1024 one as suggested in the guide... I simply made a copy of it, then altered the copies. XD This makes it so I don't have to rename all those files again whenever I want to switch back to 1024x768 for a bit (mainly due to windowed mode). If I use 1280x800 in windowed mode the bottom part of my screen gets blocked by the ebil taskbar. XD

ooo I have to try this now, the Options menu only offered like 1024x768 or something similar. I have a native 1920x1200 widescreen flat panel. Displaying that low res on my screen looks very BIG and WIDE.

I don't remember on the Options window a place you could type in a height and width...but I'm at work and can't look.

Generally speaking, editing your Registry manually is pretty risky. It's not designed for that so be very very careful! Change the wrong thing in there and computer stop working.

EDIT: woo, 1920x1200 Trickster! hehe I can see practically from one side of Aquarius to the other onscreen. Wish there was a way to stretch the length of the chatbox horizontally as well as just adding more lines vertically...

By the way, the complete path of the files and folders changed for me:

(folder name, contents don't need renamed. Copy the folder with all contents and just change the folder name.)

Mind you, I just copied these to a temp folder, changed each number part of the name to 1920, and put them back. I left the original 1024 files and folder there. Then when I did the registry change with 1920 and 1200, it looked for these files and found them. Runs fine. That way, undoing it would be just a matter of putting 1024 and 768 back in the registry, since the old files and folder are still there.

Anyone know how or if it's possible to make the chatbox loooooonger at higher resolutions?

Is there a way to change the Refresh rate? My monitor refreshes at 72 Hz but the game is locked at 60 Hz. If I try to play in full screen mode, it stretches beyond the size of my monitor.

EDIT: Found a way to, at least with NVidia graphic cards. For anyone who is having problems with Trickster forcing 60hz Refresh rates, this may work for you.

WARNING: This method requires you to edit your registries. It is a good idea to back up your registries before proceeding: any problems or errors created during this step could cause possible software/hardware issues. You have been warned.

Go to Start
Go to Run...
Type regedit in the field
On the left, browse to My Computer -> HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE -> SOFTWARE -> NVIDIA Corporation -> Global -> NVTweak
On your right, Right-click and select New -> DWORD Value
Enter NvCplDisableRefreshRatePage as the name. Data value should be defaulted as 00000000
Close Regedit
Go to Desktop
Right-click Desktop and select NVIDIA Display -> (Your Monitor)
Browse to (Video Card Name) -> Refresh Rate Overrides
Select Override refresh rates from the bullet at the top. Scroll down to the resolution you are running the game in (most likely 1024 x 768, unless you've further tweaked your registries for a larger resolution).
Click on the Refresh rate next to it and select the rate that matches your monitor settings.
Click Apply. Click Ok.

You should now be running Trickster in 72hz (along with any other games running at 1024 x 768!)
