How to avoid Scammers

Welcome to the How to avoid Scammers guide on MyTrickster. This is my first guide so many things may need corrections. xD Feel free to comment what I can improve on. By the way I am not endorsing that you should buy Myshop from others, I'm just warning you of them. Buying Myshop is not illegal it is just heavily discouraged. Thank you.

INTRODUCTION

Well what are scammers? Scammers are people who trick other players for galders or Myshop without them paying you back.

Just to let you know both can be victims, either if they sell or gift. It may also mean they can be scammers too.

HOW TO AVOID THEM

1. The first and most common thing to do is... DON'T BUY FROM THEM AT ALL! You can recharge from the Trickster website and you and nTreev can be happy. If you don't have a credit card use the guide made by Apathy. Here is the link. Btw, you must be 18 years or older to make a PayPal account unless you want them hunting you down because your 13. I know because my friend did this and he got his house phone called by PayPal. So be careful. :/ http://www.mytrickster.net/forum/gen...card-read.html

2. Always remember these phrases. (Thanks to Ameh for the great rephrasing)
S>Myshop Pay First <~ Just be careful because most people who do this are scammers. Although its not automatically legit that they are scammers.
S>Myshop Pay Half First <~ Even if its only half, they still can be a scammer, most dishonest people do this so they can make profit, but remember to watch out.
Remember gifting to your friends without them paying is legal.
Most scammers have bad grammar (Thanks Ameh for the tip XD)
All players using S>Myshop does not automatically make them a scammer, please be aware of that.

3. Never sell Myshop at all.
Well its common sense because people always want Gift first or they wont pay. Even someone who wants Gift First can be a scammer. Don't sell your Myshop, use it for yourself.

4. How can I sell Myshop without being scammed?
Buy Artisan Flames, 3 for 4,400 points. Sell your unneeded Myshop/Gacha stuff, only thing is you cant fuse fashion, capes, and pets. Just remember not to fuse a Myshop item with another Myshop item. >.>

WHAT TO DO

1. Short, easy and to the point is not to buy from anyone at all. Waste of time and waste of energy.

2. Common sense. Thanks lldanach.

3. Look for the common phrases.

4. Buy your own Myshop points :3

5. Check the MT list of confirmed Myshop scammers.

6. Take screenshots if you were scammed.

7. If you have bought Myshop from a seller in the past, they can do chargebacks which means they can make your account into a negative balance. The negative balance can equal your account to be blocked.

WHAT NOT TO DO

1. Buy from anyone that is selling Myshop.

2. Paying first, just save your own money, buy fused items, or a 4G card, its worth it.

3. Gifting to someone else. If you sell myshop and gift to anyone that is buying, just don't do it. Go use Artisan Flames its much more effective.

SCAMMERS NOT SELLING MYSHOP

There is a new breed of scammers that don't use Myshop for their own good. They use items with the same sprite as the item your looking for.

1. The most common item is Caballa Slate. Ex: Your trying to buy Clay Tablets for 400k each. You go to a shop that says CLAY TABLETS 400k EACH. You click it and you find the item with the same sprite, its Caballa Slate don't buy it!! Always check first at the name of the product, if its not what you are looking for, the seller is a scammer, get away from him/her!!

2. Another common thing people do is sell booster boxes. I have seen a low level Buffalo sell Lv. 10 Gift Box for 10M and say its a booster. Check the name of it before buying.

3. Another way people scam is to buy something, such as a Booster for 9m. You trade him/her, then he/she shows you the Lv.100 Box. You place 9M to trade and they place the Booster Box. You want to confirm it, then the deny, quickly replace the box with a Lv. 10 Gift Box. and you proceed on trading. You are oblivious that you have been scammed, they will switch servers and hide waiting for a next victim. If you have a message that says Re-execute trade, CHECK THE ITEM that you are buying. If its not what you want exit the trade and yell SCAMMER!!

4. How can you know you have been scammed? Its not legal but if you perhaps did buy from someone and you added him/her to your friends, and put into a party and they said its gifted, and you checked your Gift box/Gacha game if you tried getting Gacha and its not there, you have been scammed. Or if you paid them, then they enter myshop then log off by using Alt+F4, they go onto the other server and delete your name, you have been scammed.

Sorry guide is unfinished and I like your reply. xD My brother checks what I do so I have to post bit by bit. He doesnt want me to play Trickster and he wants to use my computer for WoW. What a jerk.

becareful how you word this guide, MT does not endorse selling, trading, or buying MyShop.

Oh, and for the paypal, I did not know you had to be 18, I'll add it to guide...though you could always lie... ;/

This really needs to be rephrased. Scammers are people who receive something from another player (be it galders or MyShop) without living up to their end of the bargain and paying back that player.

Both sellers AND buyers can be victims and, of course, it works the other way: both types can be scammers.

The number of legit MyShop buyers/sellers are few and far in between, and although MT and the GMs don't endorse these transactions, it'd still help to word your guide better so it doesn't give the impression that anyone "S>MyShop" is immediately a scammer.

You can add these things as well, since you won't be able to persuade everyone to refrain from trading MyShop:
- Most scammers have bad spelling/grammar (it's true, I notice this quite a lot).
- A well-known scammer will most likely be on the MT scammer list.
- B>Gacha leaves people vulnerable to scammers, since most victims don't take a screenshot of the transaction, let alone are smart enough to SS the purchase confirmation window before it gets closed.

i've seen this myself... but i didn't get fooled... as that guy is trying to sell Lv100 box for 9mil... he setup a camp to advertise that and i tried to whisper him... knowing that most likely it is a scammer... as the price is too good to be true when it's worthed 15mil onwards at that time...

u can add to your guide that when you see someone advertising something that seems too good to be true... well it often IS too good to be true. if someone were so desperate for $$$ to sell something... he could have simply opened shop and place that item there for cheap... that will make pretty quick sales... instead of going around wasting time advertising...

Flaafy you can emphasize this too in your post: Buying MyShop from strangers is a big no-no. In some ways, it can be worse than selling and then getting scammed. Though you don't risk losing real money, there's a chance your seller could do a chargeback, placing your account into a negative balance and thus getting you banned by NTreev.

Technically, being tricked into trading the wrong item isn't 'scamming' per se. Not in my opinion at least, because people should be alert to what they're trading... though I'll admit, it's easy for people to be deceived, so yeah, good warning. :<

actually the way i see it... "getting something different from what you meant to buy" is scamming... but there are varying degrees of severity... selling myshop and getting scammed is the most serious as it's real $$$ you are spending. getting scammed by trading wrong item is losing some virtual $$$ but that took u hard work to earn it...

but if you put up an item for sale at ridiculous price... but you don't pretend it is something else... that's not scamming... putting "S> lvl10 box for 8mil" and selling lvl10 box vs "S>lvl100 box for 8mil" and selling lvl10 box instead are different.... the former is a ridiculously overpriced box.. the latter is a scam... technically even "S>lvl10 box for 8mil" but the person put a lvl100 box is also "scamming" ... but nobody would do that nor complain about that eh..?

Scammers here doesn't mean just involves MyShop and real money. Its also involves where you buy something from other players, but received goods is not like what you supposed to buy.

As wackykid mentioned above, like the gift boxes cases.

Yesh I guess that's true ;o Those examples just remind me of people putting up Lvl 180 Gift Box A for 15m in their shop, which I wouldn't see as a scam, although I'd say the seller is a jerk for trying to deceive people. Everyone should be careful what they're trading. :x

yeah... the way i see it... technically it isn't a scam if they never advertise the Lv180 box A to be something else.... but i think the "scamming" motive is there... so it can be considered as a "suspected scamming" case...

i would say that certain items are potential for scams... these items typically have an inferior look-alike that is cheap to worthless and/or easy to get compared to the item that is in demand... these items are easily mistaken for something else more valuable...

no... that doesn't complete the picture... scamming can happen to non myshop too... (read my posts on lvl up gift boxes...)
