| Guides Section I've changed how the guides section operates. At least 3/4 of the reported posts I see come from that section - someone has posted a question without paying attention to the forum topic. How to fix this?
A new user group was created. Members may only create a new thread in that section if they are a member of the "Guide Authors" group. This group has no special forum privileges, no fancy user titles, and no spiffy name colors. This does not change replying to threads in that section - any registered user may comment on an existing guide.
The only prerequisite to joining this group is asking. Group leaders are:
tiltnkirby
xKakashi
StudyPunkRockism
FuzzySqurl
Rhinehart How to Add Members
Those of you who are guild leaders should already know how this works. To check for new join requests click "User CP". On the left side scroll down to "Miscellaneous" and then click "Group Memberships". At the top of the page it'll have a link where you can view/approve/deny the pending join requests. Please check this once a day. You can also remove people from the group that end up using the guides section as a Q&A forum after they join the group. Moderation of this forum will remain with the currently assigned moderators.
Also, TMM wasn't added as a group member because he's an admin zzz. Admin CP FTW. To Join This Group
Click "User CP". On the left side scroll down to "Miscellaneous" and then click "Group Memberships". Scroll down to the "Guide Authors" group and select the radio button "Join Group". Finally click the "Join Group" button at the bottom. One of the group leaders should see the pending join request and approve it within a day or so. Do not reply here or PM one of the group leaders or moderators about joining. The only ones that can add you to a group if you do not follow these procedures are admins - and they will likely refer you back to this thread instead of adding you to the group.
MyTrickster staff and VIP users may still post threads in that section without need for group membership. Unregistered users still cannot view that forum.

| Good. I'm sick of people posting questions there. It annoys me to no end when they don't bother reading the category description, and totally ignore the stickies. | | (Offline)

| How about you limit anyone that has 100 posts or less cannot post there? Most of the questions there are posted by MT noobs. | | (Offline)

| Guide... leaders? Sure, I'll give it a shot. All my leadership experience at school... probably won't have much meaning here. But then again, I've written a handful of guides, and I have another guide under way, so I understand the frustration.

| I'll help lead it. It's an idea I support. :)

| Well, I'm not too sure about leading it, but I'll certainly join it. I did write a charm guide that I need to work on again and I might write some others. | | (Offline)

| The "leaders" are just responsible for adding users to the group. I want to do it this way so they don't have to PM an admin to join since we aren't always here. More people capable of approving join requests = less wait time for someone to post a new guide. | | (Offline)

| I was about to post my next guide. Turns out this feature of guide-authors-only has already been implemented. Any news on when members will start to get added so we can post more guides?
And... will we be able to delete the.. failed guides, I should say? There are posts there that are so lame that they do not deserve to be in the guides section.

| Group leaders were assigned. I updated the opening post with procedure on approving join requests and initiating join request. Thanks to those that volunteered.
Leaders were automatically given membership - you don't have to approve each other, heh.

| So like how do we go about removing the really bad guides or threads that already exist from the guides section? | | (Offline)

| The group leaders don't have moderator status on those forums. Only moderators can remove threads. | | (Offline)

| I see. Then how about this: Place a stickied thread or announcement in the guides forums explaining how to join the group? Because if I didn't know about this thread and I wanted to post a guide, I would most likely go to the Questions, Feed Back & Suggestions forum and make a thread there asking why I can't post a guide. | | (Offline)

| Just a quick note: although I quit Trickster, I still check for join-requests daily. I linked the requests page on my splash home page, so I can check fast and often. Once I officially no longer want to carry this task, I'll PM an admin and say so. So... never fret~! :sun:
EDIT: Three months later, I'm still checking for join requests almost daily. Like I said, even though I quit Trickster, I'll still check this forum from time to time.

| People are suggesting that we post this guide in other locations. I disagree; no matter where you post something people still aren't going to pay attention. Hell, we can't even get new members to read the rules with an entire sub-forum dedicated to rules.
Group leaders - about how many requests do you get for this group a week? I've noticed that this indeed eliminated the questions in the guides sections but we've had a steep rise in guides in the questions section.. ZZzzzzzzzz | | (Offline)
