| Few things to clarify...
There's two "kinds" of gun skills. Gun shooting skills and gun melee skills. Gunstock and Fortune Hit are both gun melee skills, eh?
Dark Sight does not stack with the gun shooting skills nor the gun melee skills, right? Even if this is so, I may still get it. Obviously spamming Power Shot and Quick Shot is a good idea, but I still see a use for normal shots.
Let me consider something. First off a mastered Dark Sight should make my criticals 1.2 X 2.12 which equals 2.544x. That's almost a mastered Power Shot (260%) with no MP cost. Additionally, all of the gun shooting skills work independently of the gun's reload time (since they have cooldown time) so you don't have to worry about being ready to attack again.
Let me divert for a moment though. Comparison of Power Shot and Quick Shot is necessary because I see a better damage output going for Power Shot. Suppose you have both mastered. Power Shot cools down in 1.5 seconds, Quick Shot in 3. Assuming you have machine-like timing here's what would happen when we compare individual use:
Scenario A: Power Shot (260%, 98 MP)!...1.5 cooldown + Power Shot (260%, 98 MP)!...1.5 cooldown) = 520% in 3 seconds with 196 MP cost.
Scenario B: Quick Shot (480%, 200 MP)!...3 second cooldown) = 480% in 3 seconds with 240 MP cost.
Obviously, spamming Power Shot has a higher damage output and lower MP cost, however, Quick Shot is better when you know that 480% will kill them right away instead of having to do 260% getting hit and then doing 260% again. No one likes being damaged.
The next factor to take into account are the execution times of each skill. Based on the popular level 235 lion video, these are my estimates.
Power Shot = 0.5 second execution time. 1 second cooldown remaining
Quick Shot: 1 second execution time. 2 second cooldown remaining.
This takes a small bit of conceptualization. You notice that the skill box goes black the moment you launch the skill, not when it actually hits. Execution time is how long until you actually hit the monster, so part of the cooldown has already passed. Simple idea. Now here's why this is important...you need to attack during that free time. Meaning that order comes into question. Time for simulation based on my rough estimates. =O
(QSC = Quick Shot cooldown. PSC = Power Shot cooldown) Trial 1
0.0 seconds: Quick Shot! (3.0 QSC)
0.5 seconds: (2.5 QSC)
1.0 second: Quick Shot done. Power Shot! (2.0 QSC, 1.5 PSC)
1.5 seconds: Power Shot done. OMGWATIDONAO!? (1.5 QSC, 1.0 PSC)
Well, you've got Roulette Shot, but that's 200 MP for 240%. I'm sure you don't wish to use it unless you've got multiple targets. If I invert this scenario and put Power Shot first, the results may be better: Trial 2
0.0 seconds: Power Shot! (1.5 PSC)
0.5 seconds: Power Shot done. Quick Shot! (1.0 PSC, 3.0 QSC)
1.0 second: (0.5 PSC, 2.5 QSC)
1.5 seconds: Quick Shot done. Power Shot! (2.0 QSC, 1.5 PSC)
2.0 seconds: Power Shot done. WTFSAMETHANG?! (1.5 QSC, 1.0 PSC)
This is better since you've got 2 Power Shots and a Quick Shot out instead of one of each. However, my point is still shown. You need something to do. Even if you did use Roulette Shot, it has a 5 second cooldown which is rather long and won't be able to keep up.
Of course, I'm sure what you'll be training on won't need a chain of skill attacks to beat but, this is something to definitely be considered against bosses. Heck, you may want to step up your training a bit if you can chain these skills correctly along with...
...a Dark Sight'd normal shot. First off, after you slay some random monster, you can use that last damage number as a critical opener. We all know this from first job. Aside from that, you can just implement it into your skill sequence. That level 235 lion did the following sequence to Soki: Quick Shot, normal shot, Power Shot. Let's see how it goes. I'm assuming his gun reload time is 1.3 seconds. Huge estimate.
0.0 seconds: Quick Shot! (3.0 QSC)
0.5 seconds: (2.5 QSC)
1.0 second: Quick Shot done. (2.0 QSC)
By then, the first damage number from Quick Shot should be ready to disappear within 0.5 seconds I'd think. Under that assumption...
1.5 seconds: Normal shot...CRITICAL HIT! (1.5 QSC, 1.3 Reload)
Not sure of the execution time on a normal gun shot, so the times get screwy after this. All I know is that you can pull a skill out after it quite fast since they operate independent of gun reload time. You'd follow up with a Power Shot.
Meh. I don't know for sure. My estimates are messing it up a lot. The point is that you'll have a lot of damage numbers floating about between these two skills, so taking advantage of some 2.5x criticals during the process sounds like a plan for sure.
