I might try out a lion soon, so just wondering what build is the best for damage but pretty decent survival.

1144. Wear all-AC equipment, and only add AC with bonus points.

I was thinking about 2143 since it gets slightly more damage but only gives up a small chunk of h.p.

Good enough hp and def. ok amount of ac. and u can add more ac with eqips.

Yeah, I'm probably going to choose 2143 unless some person gives me a lecture on why 1144 is a lot better.

Allow me, as I have several times.

I don't call 1144 the better build, but it is indeed the most reliable build. 1144 has a 4 in charm, which = 40% increase in HP, DP, and HV (so you dodge more, take less damage, and can take more hits. 3 in one advantage). I'll compare to 4141 again, which has a 40% increase in power, which means fast AC, meaning greater damage, but you not only choke stats into AP and DX (which are useless for a gunner lion) but you also lose a great deal of HP/HV/DP, so your survival chances go down. By a lot.

1144s don't do the best damage. But in the end they still do great damage anyways, just keep adding the AC equipment.

2143 is a great build, and the more reliable of the balanced builds (3142 and 2143). You get more damage than a 1144, while sacrificing some survivability, but trust me, as a 2143 lion, I have found that my survivability is still great. You still will die a few times, but everyone does (unless you have crystal set rofl)

Although...1144s do tend to have trouble leveling up since the AC increase is crap. Seriously, it is crap. At least at the beginning of the game it is. You won't have as many problems later on though.

1144's are near impossible to kill in PVP, unless you're higher leveled than they are *shudders*

So, go 2143 if you want a balanced build with great survivability and more damage, or 1144 if you want the best survivability while sacrificing a little bit of damage AT FIRST.

Referring to you first post, I would say 2143 though I'm a 1144 myself.
My reason for choosing a 1144:
-good survival rate
-ac equips is easier to get than hp(at least for me :sun:).

Well, the only reason that I was looking at 2143 is because lions usually hit and run, so surviving wouldn't be a huge issue, but if you're 1144, then you have to run and hit multiple times for some damage, and because I don't have myshop, I can't buy a really good pet or head eqs.

Depends on how well funded you are. If you're a PvP type (not specifically GvG), then a 1144 build would be better for survival. If you're not the PvP/GvG type, then any other build will be fine. Depending on how well funded you are, you can handle a 4141 build with well compounded HP/DP equipments. If you're not that well funded, then a 3142 or 2143 is fine -- for those who want to do more damage than a 1144 build.

Even though I was well funded, I still stuck with a 1144 build for it's conservation. It's probably not easy to reach the caps of AP/AC/DX (Power Growth) and HP/DP/HV (Charm Growth), but I still prefer the 1144 build for it's defense. It may take me a longer time to level than the other builds, but I'm the type of person that likes to talk while training so it's less likely for me to die while in a middle of a fight.

9k on what? What level is it? It doesn't really help if you specify :P.

Monsters use magic too, which has the SAME range as Guns. 2143 is well, you get a little more AC (barely noticeable, as you can just wear gear for AC) at the sacrifice of quite alot of HP/DP/HV.

Quite a lot is only 600 base hp for 80 levels and either way, since you're sense you can carry pots and you'll have a lot of luck.

It's not an unnoticable increase in AC...not really that big either, but yeah. At level 150, a pure AC 2143 lion will have 105 AC, and a 1144 will have 96. 9 AC=180 damage difference. Bleh, it generally adds up on the later levels (level 200 = 112 for a 1144, while a 2143 gets 124, so the AC gap does indeed increase)

The HP/HV/DP difference does add up later, which is why I said 1144 is the most reliable build, but probably the most painful to level up anyhow, but the rewards are in the end when you are higher-leveled. 2143 is slightly easier to level up with more damage, and still high reliability which makes it an easy build that requires a little patience to level up)

1144 is the best PVP/bossing build, but sucks for training in the early levels. 2143 is basically a good all-around build that will do well in PVP (I would think that the 1144 will have better results though) and pretty much everything else, and will still have a good training rate.
3142's pushing the limit a bit, but still balanced. You get great damage (though choke stats a bit) and sacrifice a lot of survivability, but then there's the great damage, so yeah =/
And 4141...I kind of think of it as a joke, because survivability is little to none. Make sure you can oneshot enemies before they can hit you, because when they hit...it hurts... ._.
