Reset Basic Detection for Item Detector?

I'm currently in a dilemma here. I have Basic Detection mastered, but I would also like to learn Item Detector now due to its greater depth. I understand the features of both skills, but if I were to choose, should I :

(1) reset Basic Detection to learn Item Detector?
(2) level up tm another 10 TM levels then learn Item Detector?
(3) reset another useless for now skill (ie Gun Booster, not gunner fox but Thief Master) so I can have both detection skills?

Opinions anyone?

I JUST reset basic detection for item detector.
There have been a lot of threads on the subject, but I figure if I ever need basic again that bad I can just level my tm some more. Even though I have 15 spare points. >.>
I dunno. Item detector is supposed to be superior, especially for drilling in places with depth over 95(?). Unless you have a reason to dig in in low depth fields then keep basic detection, and go with either your second or third choice of obtaining ID.

I am 14x / 13x and I personaly only used Item Detector.
The only bad side about it is, even mastered, it still can fail.
The bright side is, nomather which place you want to drill, with 90DA you don'T have any Depth issues.

90 DA is good for keeping from wasting drill uses. However, detect skills are good for running around and finding the items instead of getting the "item not under here" message a dozen times before finally finding a spot you can drill an item up. Then getting the "item not under here" message another dozen times before finding a second item. Also you're not likely to find the items that are buried in the middle of nowhere( since most people aren't gonna drill every inch of the map).

That and it's near imposable to dig anything up in SF2 without it or Basic Detect.

I'd say keep Basic Detect, I find it *really* great to use, especially for doing events that have low depth areas to dig, Item Detector has a long recharge, and only 3x3 area (even mastered it's only 3x3), not really helpful for this type of digging. Basic Detect is spam-able and can get up to 95m depth with 7x7 area, it's *easily* superior in areas that are 95 depth or below, if you're digging in larger areas Item Detection is helpful, but it's *very* annoying because of all the failures... Even when mastered... A level 1 Item Detector can also find at max depth because depth with ID is based upon your DA, NOT the skill level of Item Detector.

item detector is good since u can drill at high depht places.

Item Detector is clearly superior, however if you have a totally useless skill like Gun Booster, get rid of that. Both are better than one. :3

Plus, aren't they adding in a new digging skill?

basic detect IS mastered at 110m

you seem to have the skills mixed up

I'd say, you must be someone unique if you can tolerate the amount of times the skill fails to cast
