In a bit of a mess...

Hey. I'm a level 31 pure AC gunner lion (1144), and it is taking me forever to level. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong, currently training in Beach Field 6 on the sand demons/hula octopi. Problem is, it's taking hours at a time to level up, and it shouldn't be taking that long at this level (I get 0.1%-0.2% per monster, they take 4 or so hits to kill). I've tried killing the cannon shell things in beach field 1, but they damage me tons, even though I'm 1144. All the gold coins I earn are spent buying new ammo for my gun, and I'm not sure what to do really.

I've tried joining parties, but I seem to get better experience on my own even, since often the other party members don't kill the monsters >_< .

Any advice on what I should do would be very thankfully received!

You're only lvl31. Lions suffer epicly until they hit 2nd job AND get power shot + double shot. Once you get your 3 main skills (power shot, double shot and shooting spree) then levelling becomes a total breeze from that point on.

But until you get your main skills, you will have it difficult for a while. This is normal, you'll just have to tough it out.

If you can, go to myshop and buy a flicker drill and sneak over to the Caballa mines. That's how I got my characters past the doldrums of the level 30 blues.

Think of it as birth pains. Lions are tedious to level until 2nd job, like the others said. The best advice I could give you is to try to get to lv50 using Stone Strike. Keep putting your points in AC, but get a lot of DA gear. Plus you can also equip a HP/DP shield. IMO, a gun only gets useful when you learn PowerShot.

Try to level on monsters higher than your level. Hitting lower-leveled monsters will get you an experience reduction as penalty.

level 31 on sand demons and hula octopi? lol try going south east forest or path to desert beach and try those chipmunks there. u can go to path to oops wharf around 37 depending on ur equipment too. u're 1144, so i guess u wont die fast, but if u have problems, try kiting aka hit-and-run.

Ethane: Can't MyShop yet, haven't got a credit card or money :P .

Illhul: I've tried those chipmunks too and they damage me a lot. I've tried the level 35 monsters in the 'path to desert beach' too, but they're gun resistant anyway. The monsters that are 30+ seem to take my health from 1020 down to ~200 every time.

I'll stick it out though, thanks everyone :) . Glad to know I've not done anything intrinsically wrong to spoil my lion.

why don't you try TM questing in popo? lvl 31 goes TM on popo. plus, TM quest in the pyramid dungeon. that's what i did with my sheep, so it might work also with you. kiting is really the thing for long range attackers
